North Hudson

PB&A, Inc. has had a long history of designing Earth Retention Systems, many of which have employed soldier beam and shotcrete lagging as was used for the San Jose Airport Project. A good example of this is the North Hudson Project in Pasadena, California. The proximity of the I-210 freeway was a hurdle in getting the plan approved, as one side of the project was on the CalTrans right of way. This wall had to be designed using Soldier Beams and shotcrete lagging as Caltrans required that the Tie-backs be removed. PB&A used the same detail for the Soldier Beam and Shotcrete Lagging at the San Jose Airport that was used successfully in the North Hudson Project.
