Sarah Outzen, Project Engineer - PB&A Inc

SarahSarah Outzen received her Masters of Science in Civil Engineering from San Francisco State University in 2012. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University.

Ms. Outzen has 6 years of professional experience in structural design. Since joining PB&A she has prepared BIM Modeling for numerous projects, including the new Apple Campus II project in Cupertino, California.

Sarah was our managing engineer for projects at two for the big name Tech Companies.  Along with the Apple project, she designed a permanent Retaining Wall for the  Microsoft Data Center in Texas, where a 0 tolerance for movement was mandated.

She has led the PB&A design effort for the MidCoast Extension, the light rail project in San Diego, governed by SANDAG, with approvals of the design from Caltrans.  Much of the design work that has been done has been Value Engineering, both for permanent installation of Retaining Walls for our Client WSP (formerly Parsons Brinkerhoff) and temporary shoring design for construction, for our clients Midcoast Transit Constructors. Ms. Outzen’s creative designs have saved the project both money and construction time.

Along with her time spent on design for Caltrans Transporation projects, she has devoted time to head PB&A’s work with developers who desire to build large campuses for commercial and residential use, on hilly sites where it is necessary to creatively install permanent earth retention to make the construction of the structures possible.

Sarah has proved to be an excellent project manager, having developed a great rapport with our clients, working relationship with her colleagues, and has added a new dimension to the PB&A team.
